Meet Christie
At the heart of Escape Yoga is Christie Bytom — a teacher with decades of experience, a practical outlook, and a genuine love for helping people feel better in their bodies and minds.
Christie discovered yoga over ten years ago while searching for relief from ongoing back pain, the result of more than 30 years training in the martial art of Tae Kwon Do. Yoga wasn’t something she found quickly or casually — it became a turning point.
In 2017, Christie completed her Yoga Alliance approved 200-hour teacher training, deepening a practice that had already transformed her own health and wellbeing. Since then, yoga has become a central part of her life and teaching.
Alongside yoga, Christie has taught Tae Kwon Do full time for over 20 years. That experience shapes her teaching style today — supportive, encouraging, and rooted in real understanding of how bodies work, especially bodies that feel stiff, tired, or unsure where to begin.
What Our Retreats Are Really About
Christie’s approach to yoga is welcoming and practical. Classes are designed to suit all levels, from complete beginners to experienced movers, with options offered throughout.
There’s no expectation to be flexible, strong, or experienced — just open to trying.
Escape Yoga Retreats are not bootcamps, and they’re not about ticking boxes. They’re about balance — yoga and rest, group time and quiet moments, structure and freedom.
We keep groups small to create a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, where everyone feels comfortable just being themselves.
Retreat locations are carefully chosen for their calm surroundings, helping you slow down naturally without trying. Nourishing food is included, designed to support the experience without strict rules or expectations.
